And here we are at the end of June.

Holy toledo! I can't believe that the 4th of July is already upon us!

Here in my neck of the woods, that also means one of my favorite things...the Cruise In! For those of you who aren't familiar with Cache Valley, each year on the weekend around the 4th (sometimes its slightly before, sometimes it's slightly after, depending on what day the 4th falls on)Logan is invaded for 3 days with hundreds of classic cars for one of the biggest car shows around. They've got something for everyone at this show...from Model T's to 'monster trucks'. Muscle cars galore! Gorgeous Cameros, sweet Mustangs, killer Chargers, awesome GTO's, ect...all representing Detoit steel at it's prime. As you can tell, the muscle cars are totally my cup of tea :0)They average over 700 cars every year. Each year the Cache Valley Cruising Association, who host this event, raffle off a 'giveaway car', a classic that they have restored to it's former glory. Each ticket you buy to get in to the show enters you in the drawing. This year's car is a '67 GTO convertible. Whooooa Nelly is it beautiful!!! The president of the CVCA lives 3 blocks down so I have seen it several times parked at his place while out on my walk. And drooled each time I passed it. After the drawing, a good portion of the cars head out to Main Street and actually cruise. The city shuts down a couple mile stretch of Main so people can go sit and watch them (there will be lawn chairs and blanktes along the route popping up by Tuesday to stake out good viewing spots) The Cruising folks also gather each Tuesday from about May til it gets too nasty outside in the fall at a couple of the local drive-in resturants (A & W and Sonic, mostly) to give the locals a chance to come by, ask questions, by mainly to "ooh" and "aahhh" over the cars ;0) They're a neat bunch of people, always willing to answer a question, friendly as heck, and just all around a good group. I work with a few of the members; our family doctor is also a memeber. Anyhow, I have my camera all ready to go for Saturday morning...can't wait to see the cars and hear the roar of the big blocks. If you're in the area, stop by! The show is Thursday, Friday and Saturday. *tip - Saturday is the best day to go as Thurs not all the cars are here yet and Friday they have a Poker Run over to Bear Lake and back.
