I Survived Crue Fest!!

I'm still standing...barely. Crue Fest was killer!! I had a BLAST and can't wait to do it again next year - with VIP seating down in the front :0) I am sore (danced all freaking night!) and exhausted, but smiling from ear to ear.

It's amazing who you run into waiting in line for a snowcone between bands...... (guitarist DJ Ashba from Sixx A.M.!!!)

Rock n Roll!!!

Hidey-ho everyone! Hope all is well with you and you had a great weekend.

I finally got to catch up on (most) of my housework....I scrubbed, vacuumed, dusted, Windexed and wiped until I thought my fingers would fall plum off. Whew! Still have some laundry to do but it can wait a day or 2 more.

Yesterday I walked/ran 10.5 MILES!!! Yee haw! I am sure feeling like I did this morning...s bit stiff, but I will loosen up as the day goes on.

I am totally psyched about tomorrow...my BF for the last 24 years is coming down and we are spending the afternoon in Salt Lake and going to Crue Fest! A fab "girls night out" to be sure! There are 5 bands playing - Trapd, Papa Roach, Buck Cherry, Sixx AM and Crue - at an outdoor venue which I've never been to, but it will be a blast and we are bound to run into people we know. Can't wait!!!

Have a good one and I may or may not be here tomorrow.

Here again

Sorry I've been remiss in posting this week....not much going on. I took Wednesday off and was a "woman of leisure", which was wonderful and much needed. Unfortunately it also means that I spend all day at work yesterday trying to unbury my desk :0(

Have a great weekend!!

Monday

Hi all! Hope you had a great weekend.

My weekend was busy driving, mostly to and from Idaho....dropped my son off at DIL's house in Poky to have a "bachelor weekend" with his grandpa and my nephew, Brady on Friday, had a nice dinner with my MIL in IF for her birthday on the same evening, did some shopping for school clothes Sat afternoon back at home, watched a couple good movies at home Saturday night, drove back to Poky and had a family outing with DIL and the boys, daughter and SIL to see "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D" and dinner on Sunday. My poor car has driven it's tires to the nub ;0)

Hoping for some rain today....it's dry dry dry in them there hills! Keeping the fingers crossed. We haven't had rain in over 40 days and things are just brown :0( A good rainstorm would sure be welcome....a couple would be better. Cool things off a bit and green up the mountainsides. We'll see what ol' Ma Nature has in store for us.

Birthday Girl

Today is my wonderful mom-in-law's birthday!! This is one woman who has it goin' on, let me tell ya. She's intelligent, beautiful (a total knock-out!), kind and loving. She was a county clerk for several years, a job at which she excelled; she has been politically active in several campaigns for others, including running the local campaign for Gov. Butch Otter (the picture is of her and her hubby, Morrell, at the Governor's Inaguaral Ball). She has the respect and friendship of oodles of people (I swear I can't throw a rock without hitting someone she knows!) along with the love and admiration of her family. Happy birthday, Judie!!! Love ya much!!!

Gimme Some Money

Some day my Powerball ticket will win. I know it...I can feel it. And I'm sure that's exactly what the 5 billion other people who play the lottery say to themselves each week too (to be perfectly honest, I have only bought 3 lottery tickets in my life, all within the last year or so) It's not that I want to be rediculously wealthy, although that would be cool; I just would like to have enough that my hubby could quit his job, I could quit mine and finish school, we could have our house paid for, no credit card balance, take a trip now and then, buy a boatload of supercute purses and shoes, ect. Just be comfortable in life. My theory is I've done the "Shasta wishes and mac 'n' cheese dreams" life, I want to try the "champagne wishes and caviar dreams" lifestyle. I've been a good girl, why not me?...my husband certainly deserves it for working so so hard to support us. He deserves it much more than me. I guess I will get one or 2 tix and see what happens. Crossing my fingers!!! As Sinatra sang, "Luck be a lady tonight".

Sand on my mind

Good day to ya! Hope your week is going smoothly.

I am SO NOT in the mood to be at work today. Where would I rather be? Just about anyplace but the dentist would work, actually. I would really love to be on a beach someplace (California, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Cabo...I'm not picky!) with my iPod, a good book, some nibbles and a cooler full of Diet Pepsi, soaking up the sun. I miss the ocean...I miss the beach.

My DIL is waaaaay up north today, picking up my nephew, Brady. He will be coming down to stay for a couple weeks. I am very excited to see him...he's hard kind of a rough life but has turned out to a great kid. He's 18 and 6 foot 40, I swear. I don't even want to know what his shoe size is (my boy Chris is headed that direction!) The fam is getting together on Sunday to go see "Journey to the Center of the Earth" in 3D and have dinner. We're gonna try to squeeze in a family trip to Lagoon while he's here as well...we'll see. May have to settle for surfing and indoor skydiving instead.

Ran ran RAN 4 MILES yesterday! One mile at lunch, and the other 3 after work! My knees are not bothering me this morning which is surprising. Must've been the Aleve ;0) I'll see if the old bod will do some more miles today, but I won't hold my breath.

Have a good day!!!

Scar

We said goodbye to our cat, Scar, yesterday. He had been doing so well on his meds, but Saturday he began to take a turn for the worse; by Sunday morning he didn't even have the strength to move more than a couple inches. So I called the emergency page for our vet, we met her at the clinic, she administered one shot, and my husband and I petted him and scratched his ears as he peacefully slipped away. And he was purring as he went.

Where's my muu-muu??

Okay I had a complete "girl moment" this morning...you know those moments - the ones where you look in your closet and think "I have nothing to wear". In my case, I had nothing I wanted to wear this morning. Ugh. I was having flashbacks of my high school days where it would take 45 minutes and many many MANY changes of clothes before I found something acceptable to wear. Today it only took half an hour and several outfits before I bagged it and just kept on the last outfit I tried on. Where's a muu muu when you need one...it was seriously to the point that if I would have had one in the closet I would have happily thrown it on and come to work ;0) Ths rediculous thing is I don't have a job where I need to dress up. My standard work attire is jeans and a tee shirt or sweatshirt, for heaven's sake! Ugh.

Anyway, happy Friday to you all and enjoy a fab weekend!!

Do Your Boobs Hang Low?

Morning all! Hope your week is going well and you’re coasting into Friday!

I was listening to Dr Laura in the office yesterday (with all the electrical interference around my office I only get the AM talk radio station and the local pop station on my little radio)…she received a call from a lady who is around my age (she was 35) with 3 kids who wanted Dr L’s opinion on having a surgical procedure done to improve her breast situation. And Dr L proceeded to rip into her about vanity, who she was getting them done for (to impress other people) and if her husband still jumps her body he’s obviously okay with how her body looks so she should be too. I could not disagree more. If she was some bimbo who just wanted to get bigger boobs, I could see telling her she was being vain, advising her not to. I was thinking about this who scenario last night while on my walk…and I have to admit that if I had the $$$ I would totally get a boob job. Not that I want to have huge hooters, mind you; I just would like “the girls” full and perky like they were BEFORE HAVING KIDS, and put back where they started out at. Vanity? Probably. I may be wrong on this train of thought but I just think that if there is something about yourself that is broken that you have the means to fix, do it! If your teeth were crooked or had a big gap in them that you hated, you’d get them fixed, right? No one would call you vain or tell you it was wrong for doing that. So why is it wrong to feel better about your body by restoring your breasts to their “former glory”? Seriously! What is the problem?! Having a pert little bosom to make you happy is not what I’d consider one of the big ol’ flaming Seven Deadly Sins. Yeah, you should be more concerned with what kind of person you are - being kind, loving, compassionate, ect - than with what you look like; but can’t you be a kind, loving, compassionate person with breasts that salute the sun instead of the grass?

Back to NORMAL

YOWZAH!!! What a whirlwind holiday week/weekend! Last week was so much fun! The fam was busy with fireworks, car show, fireworks, lounging, and eating WAYYY too much. We have been to Lava Hot Springs, Bear Lake, Montpelier and Soda in the last few days. My son Chris had his BFF, Bo, over to hang out and spend the night on Friday. They've not hung out in a long ol' time so it was great to have my other "son" in the house ;0) Car show was great...heard the accompanying Styx concert was fantastic. Glad things are back to normal, though. Hope you all had a great holiday as well. A couple pics to share (starting at the bottom)...fireworks from my hometown (taken in my backyard..sorry about the trees!), my hubby and the car he rode around in as a wee (spoiled) lad (well, not THE car, but one just like my M-and-DIL's), son Chris and "son" Bo, and me with a sweet ride at the Cruise In.

Hummin along

Tonight is the 4th of July fireworks for my small little town; amazingly enough, TONS of people from around the valley come here to see our display, put on by our valley's very own Fireworks West. I have to admit that our city does a great job with our fireworks....it gets better each year. Good job by the city council (thanks Doug!) in their efforts to keep improving the show and for the festivities they put on each year, from the rodeo to the chuckwagon breakfast and parade on the 4th. AND the best part about the firework show is our family gets to enjoy the fireworks from the comfort of our own backyard! They shoot them off about 3 blocks from our house so we are practically right underneath them when they go off! Looking forward to seeing them :0)

If you've got a couple minutes, try your luck at this quiz on American History...hope you were paying attention in history class (LOL)!!!

Mrs H

My best friend of 23 years called me last night in tears. Her mom had gone in for a routine physical yesterday for the insurance folks and the doctor found on an x-ray that she has some nodes on one of her lungs. Mrs H was a heavy smoker for several years, but quit some time ago (I have never seen a pack of cigarettes at the house, let alone seen her light up, so it's been a good long time since she's smoked). She is going in for a CAT scan today to see what's what. I am sure that they will find that these nodes are just innocent little blobs, not cancerous. Mrs H is a wonderful person...she and her hubby are like my other parents and they have always treated me like one of their kids. She has been battling with Myesemia Gravis for 4 or 5 years and it stinks that she is going through this. I am saying my prayers for her and remaining optimistic. No need to panic until there is something definate to get crazed about. Good luck today, Mrs H...hang in there...love you guys!
